Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced a Pilot Project whereby foreign nationals with an offer of full time employment in the Province of Alberta - in the following trades - can apply for work permits directly. Alberta is known for its fast-growing economy and high quality of life.
This is an excellent opportunity for prospective emigrants wanting to move to Canada, especially given the current pause in Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW) applications. The relevant occupations are;-
- Welder (NOC 7265)
- Heavy-duty equipment mechanic (NOC 7312)
- Ironworker (NOC 7264)
- Millwright and industrial mechanic (NOC 7311)
- Carpenter (NOC 7271)
- Estimator (NOC 2234).
Normally employers would have to obtain authorization (Labour Market Opinions) from Services Canada, before extending these offers of employment. This requirement has been temporarily waived.
Please note that applicants will still need to have authorization from provincial trades and employment authorities to practice in their respective trades.
