Step 3a - Jobseeking Assistance
The key to successful immigration is often finding the right job.
When searching for a job overseas, it stands to reason that you cannot be in two places at once. This is the very reason why our sister employment consulting division, ODG Recruitment International was established.
We work to make sure that our clients - emigrating (overseas) job hunters - are not disadvantaged in the local job market. We can provide you with a range of helpful services, from the initial impetus of our FREE JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME, to personal support consultancy which can be tailor-made to the needs of your visa application.
AS A CLIENT, YOU WILL RECEIVE A FREE BASIC JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME* AND YOU CAN UPGRADE TO RECEIVE PAID JOB MONITORING OR EMPLOYMENT APPRAISAL SERVICES IF YOU WISH.
YOUR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN CANVASSING EMPLOYERS, ARRANGING APPOINTMENTS AND ATTENDING INTERVIEWS IS ESSENTIAL. ALTHOUGH NO GAURANTEES OF SUCCESS CAN BE GIVEN, OUR JOBSEEKER PROGRAMMES ARE HIGHLY EFFECTIVE AT HELPING OVERSEAS JOBSEEKERS IN THEIR SEARCH FOR A JOBOFFER.
* Free basic Jobseeker Programme - Clients whose visas are being processed through Migration Bureau will receive free basic jobseeker assistance provided by ODG Recruitment International. Optional paid job vacancy monitoring upgrades and employment appraisal services are available at extra cost. This service will help you with both obtaining visas and finding employment.
ODG RECRUITMENT INTERNATIONAL
We are dedicated to helping prospective migrants commence the search for employment BEFORE leaving home. We understand that you will want to start earning swiftly upon your arrival and not eat into your precious savings. Therefore, we have created a Jobseeker Programme to help you with one of the most stressful, but important burdens...finding a job.
Although no guarantees of success are given, the programme will be tailored to fit your individual needs, prevailing market conditions and the skill requirements in the country at that particular time.
We are always available to answer any questions you have about the job search process and can advise on how to prepare a CV according the standard style of your new country.
CREATING CREDIBILITY
One of the main problems faced by applicants for jobs overseas is scepticism. Employers often reject "offshore" applications outright unless introduced by a local agency. Many employers believe that most foreign applicants will never qualify for the necessary residence visas or make the life-changing step of moving overseas. Here you will have a distinct advantage. Participating in the Jobseeker Programme presents evidence to prospective employers that you are serious about your move. An added benefit is that your residence visa application will be processed by the Migration Bureau thus reducing the risk of delay or refusal and in doing so eliminating another major concern for most employers.
We will;
Provide a list of contact details of employers and recruitment agents for you to contact.
Guide you on how to present and prepare yourself for an interview.
Guide you on how to prepare a CV in the style of your destination country.
Provide a personal or telephone consultation upon arrival and advice on how to set up
interviews.
Provide advice about the local job market in your chosen profession.
You will need to;
Advise us of the specific region/city in which you have chosen to settle.
Liaise directly with employers and recruitment agents that we may recommend in order to
set up interviews.
Be actively involved in the job search process, sending letters of applications to employers and
agents that we may recommend.
Prepare an up-to-date and comprehensive CV in the style used in your destination country.
Plan a visit to attend interviews as most employers will not offer jobs on a “sight unseen” basis
(if you require/need a job offer prior to migrating).
Apply for vacancies no longer than 3 months ahead of your intended arrival date.
Keep an open mind and be flexible. Don’t expect a job at the same level or salary as in your
home country. You may need to take a step back in order to gain local knowledge and
experience.
FREE JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME
(exclusively for visa processing clients of the Migration Bureau)
HOW DOES IT WORK? - one per application receives the following FREE JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME to help you to obtain a relevant, qualifying job offer.
FOUR STEPS TO SUCCESS
There are 4 steps to the Programme. In total you are entitled to 2 hours of free consultation time, incorporating the following;-
Step 1 - PLANNING & UPDATE TELEPHONE CONSULTATION
Once you have proceeded with our visa processing services, one of our in-country EMPLOYMENT EXPERTS will contact you directly to provide you with an initial 15-minute planning and update consultation on the following subjects;-
- Advice on your CV/resume to ensure that it is appropriate for local employers.
- An update on the local employment market.
- Helpful tips on how to look for a job and the job search process.
- Advice on the best time to start the job search / interview process.
Step 2 - ACCESS TO OUR ONLINE JOBSEEKER RESOURCE BOARD
You will have access to our JOBSEEKER RESOURCE BOARDS – for your preferred destination country. This website page will provide you with examples of how to prepare a local-style C.V./resume, links to local job vacancy websites, links to employers and recruitment agencies and also helpful tips on the do’s and don’ts of searching for work from abroad.
Step 3 - IMMEDIATE JOB VACANCIES & EMPLOYMENT LEADS
(available 6 weeks prior to your visit or to your arrival)
Once your visas have been approved or you are visiting your destination country to attend job interviews, we will arrange a further telephone consultation between you and our in-country EMPLOYMENT EXPERT. Following this consultation, we will provide you with a list of job vacancies and/or employer & recruitment agency contacts relevant to your profession and the region in which you wish to settle. We will also provide a list of the top internet job boards for you to search for any further relevant vacancies. For this stage, we recommend that you contact us 6 weeks prior to your intended move/visit date.
Step 4 (upon arrival) - PERSONAL OR TELEPHONE ORIENTATION CONSULTATION
Upon your arrival in your new destination country, you will be entitled to a 45 minute personal or telephone “job search orientation” consultation with our in-country EMPLOYMENT EXPERT. They will be available to answer any questions you may have. You will be provided with up-to-the-minute information on the local job market and helpful job search/interview tips. You will also be provided with further current job vacancies or the contact details of local relevant employers or recruitment agents. You will then need to contact and follow-up on these leads. Our experts will also provide some initial arrival support. This consultation can be conducted in person or over the telephone/email. (Note only one arrival consultation is provided).
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The FREE JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME is designed to get you started with your job search but it is not a total solution. No guarantees of success are given whatsoever as it must be you who secures a job offer. All costs associated with your job search or trips for interviews are your own responsibility.
- We will endeavour to provide current job vacancies and relevant contact details of employers and recruitment agencies BUT WE DO NOT PRE-ARRANGE JOB INTERVIEWS. We require you, the applicant, to contact employers and recruitment agents and to arrange/attend job interviews. In addition to this service, we encourage all clients to also use other job vacancy websites and to apply directly to employers themselves. We simply want you to find a job.
- As this is a free service, it is strictly limited to a total of 2 hours professional consulting time for current visa processing clients only. It is open to ONE PERSON per visa application for use once only. If used correctly, this service can be highly effective at initiating your job search - provided that you are actively involved.
DO YOU NEED MORE HELP?
Following the FREE JOBSEEKER PROGRAMME, you may wish further assistance with your search for a relevant, qualifying job in your destination country.
In this case, the consultants of ODG Recruitment can provide ongoing support consultancy to help you improve the effectiveness of your jobhunting and your chances of success. All such ongoing consultancy will be optional and at additional cost.
